The authors lecture about the racial issues surrounding blood donation, collection, and administration on the battlefield. Knowing the racial policies of the military at that time, Montford Point Marines, the idea that blacks had bad night vision, etc., I was not surprised that the policies of the Red Cross were what they were. What is surprising to me is that this is not well known. The author brought that up as the “Why we should care?” question. In order to understand the true history of World War II you must be aware and understand ALL of its events and history.
